The opportunity

The new Sponsored Degree™ Program continues GetSet's commitment to helping highly motivated college students succeed. GetSet has partnered with industry leading employers to provide scholarship and employment opportunities for highly motivated students.

Through the program, qualified students can earn:

  • Micro-Internships: Paid, short term professional assignments

  • Sponsored Degrees: Full-tuition payment for two years at Purdue Global or University of Maryland Global Campus

  • Careers: Guaranteed summer internship. If the internship is a success, you’ll be committed to the employer for two years after graduation.

Qualified students who successfully demonstrate potential at each phase of the program will be considered for the next phase.

How it works

Phase 1: Micro-Internship

The program starts with a Micro-Internship with GetSet. Micro-Internships are short term, paid, professional assignments. Unlike traditional internships, Micro-Internships typically range from 5 to 20 hours of work, and are due between one and three weeks after kickoff.

Phase 2: Sponsored Degree™

Students who successfully complete a Micro-Internship will be eligible to apply for a Sponsored Degree™ offered by an employer that partners with GetSet. Sponsored Degrees™ cover full tuition for the 3rd and 4th years at participating universities.

Sponsored Degree™ students will apply to transfer to partners like Purdue Global or University of Maryland Global Campus and commit to working at the sponsoring employer for a two years after graduation.

Phase 3: Career

Students who successfully complete program requirements will have a guaranteed position at their sponsoring employer after graduation. Program requirements vary by degree but may include:

  • Successful completion of a 4-year degree

  • Completion of a full time internship at the sponsoring employer

  • Working at the sponsoring employer for two years after graduation

Additional information

  • The Sponsored Degree Program is designed for students with financial need. The definition of financial need is based on your Pell grant eligibility. Students must have at least $4,000/year in Pell grant funding to be eligible to apply.

    Additional eligibility requirements vary.

  • Recruiting in professional fields like accounting, cybersecurity, and education is extremely competitive. This competition drives innovation in talent recruitment and development.

Employers are partnering with GetSet and top universities to identify and develop the highly qualified, motivated, and diverse candidates that will be their future leaders. By engaging future employees earlier, supporting their education, and guaranteeing employment, forward thinking companies are getting ahead of the curve by building the foundation of their future workforce.

  • Micro-Internships are short term, paid, professional assignments that are similar to those given to new hires or interns. These projects enable you to demonstrate skills, explore career paths, and open opportunities. Unlike traditional internships, Micro-Internships can take place year round, typically range from 5 to 40 hours of work, and are due between one week and one month after kickoff. These Micro-Internships are facilitated via the Parker Dewey platform.

Micro-Internships are the entry point to the Sponsored Degree™ Program. They enable you to demonstrate your skills, determine your eligibility, and present you with Sponsored Degree opportunities you’re qualified for.
